What team members do:

Group leaders work alongside youth leaders to lead a small group of children, or in supporting a small number of children with special needs in a specialist team. The evenings' programme and all the teaching materials are pre-organised and easy to follow with training provided on the afternoon.

The Support team helps with tasks such as registration, making refreshments and stewarding. These are practical roles but are equally important.

The Technical team runs the PA/audio visual and technical side of the event.

Musicians play in the worship band and also assist the group leaders in the small groups.

The Non-event team help with jobs between the events such as envelope stuffing, photocopying and buying resources.

When you will be needed.

X:site takes place on a Saturday evening once every other month. Team members need to be available on the following dates:

2009:

28 March

16 May

11 July

Commitment levels vary depending on the role.

On the day, the event will start at 6pm, however group leaders, technical team and the band are expected to arrive at 3pm. This is in order to pray together, prepare the programme for the evening and build relationships with one another. We feel this is an important time for sharing our gifts and supporting each other in our ministry within our different churches, but networking together. All team are very much invited to attend, however it is recognised that support roles may be ideal for parents, or those leaders who bring children from their church, so are unable to commit to the extra time required.

Eligibility to join the team.

All team members must be:

  • committed to Christ
  • enthusiastic and energetic
  • mature enough to be responsible for children
  • willing to apply for a criminal records disclosure
  • over 18 years old. If you are 14-18 years old you can apply to be a Junior team member and there are more details about this further down this page.

Roles involving registration, hosting, resources, set up and set down do not require a CRB or reference.

If you have already served on a Scripture Union Team at Spring Harvest or on a Beach Mission or similar you will only be required to complete an update form and obtain updated CRB if required.

Follow the instructions below to apply to be part of the team. Once we have received your application, a CRB pack will be sent to you in the post. Please note that as portability with CRBs is no longer possible, you must complete a Scripture Union CRB clearance even if you already have a CRB from another organisation.

What to do now.

1. Download the Adult application form, or the ancillary form if you wish to be part of the support roles. Complete and return to Scripture Union (the address is on the form)

2. Download the reference form, print out 2 copies and give to 2 referees. They need to return the form directly to Scripture Union (the address is on the form)

3. Download and read the Voluntary Ministry with Scripture Union leaflet

What junior team members do:

It is great fun working with X:site as a junior leader. Duties and tasks vary depending on the needs of the team and the children but we need team members in the following areas:
