X:Site January 2009 showed us that

God has something to say... through his word.
We watched a clip from 'The Miracle Maker' where Jesus spent time alone in the desert
and the devil came to tempt him. We learnt how Jesus used words from the bible to keep
himself from being tempted and that we can do that too.
You can read the story in Matthew 4: 1-11
Our memory verse was from
Psalm 119:169 "Hear my cry to you Lord, let your word help me understand."

We had a new member of the upfront team at this event. Hi Chris, like your moves!!

At the beginning of the event the teams played pictionary.

"I'm gonna clap my hands to show I love you."

Another lively song to keep the upfront team fit!

Lianne demonstrates the After Eight chocolate game.

Get the After Eight from your forehead to your mouth without using your hands!

Mmm............ this is hard!

God's word (the Bible) is described as a sword to fight temptation with. We stuck verses on our swords to prepare for battle.

We wrote things that we get tempted to do wrong on stickers and stuck them to the balloons.

Jonny gives his team final battle orders.

The balloon 'temptations' are destroyed by the swords, 'God's word'.

Swords held ready!

The boys army prepares for battle.

The girls army look slightly nervous!

Simon and Tom make sure the boys keep up their war chant!

Amanda made a huge Bible for us.

We thought about how much God must have loved us to send Jesus to die in our place so that we would be able to become friends with God; so that we would be able to resist temptation. We wrote our thoughts and prayers on post it notes and stuck them in the beautiful big bible.

I wonder what was going on here?!!

He, he !!!
