In July we found out that:
God is good: all the time.
Wow! The sixth and last X:site event for this school year has come and gone with 71 youngsters attending.
We used Psalm 136 to help us understand how God was there in the beginning, he was there in the past and he provides, protects and loves his people now and forever. We played Creation Alphabet and Creation Rapido, and then team games where we had to create shapes. Even the band got involved in this and made a rather rickety house!
The story was about how the Israelites escaped from slavery in Egypt when God helped Moses show God's power through the plagues he sent to persuade Pharoah to let the people go. Then God created a path through the Red Sea for the Israelites to cross. Lee and Lianne shared the story with some folks dressed up and acting as Moses, Pharoah, the Israelites and Egyptian soldiers.
The Psalm reminded us of how God keeps his promises whatever we are going through. We can face difficult times at school or at home, friends or members of our family may be ill, people we really care about may have gone away, maybe for good. The Soul Doctor found Andrew to share with us how God had been with him in some very difficult and sad times.
Whatever is happening to us
God is good: all the time.
We wrote some of God's promises to us on pebbles and moebius strips. See if you can work out how to make one of those!
The memory verse to remind us of how God keeps his promises is
Psalm 136:1 "Give thanks to the Lord because he is good; his love is eternal."

Then as this was the final event for children in year 6 we invited them out to the front to present them with a book to help them as they continue their journey with God. Simon Halls, the Swindon Youth for Christ director came and told us of some of the things that the Year 6 leavers can take part in at their new secondary schools.
To celebrate our first year as X:site a very special gunge tank was made and after lots of voting Simon was chosen to be the first leader to experience it! As Simon and several others are leaving us for uni or gap years we had several goodbyes to say.
